THE FEVER IN OUR CHILDRENS
Fever or increased body temperature, is a defense mechanism of the body that can demonstrate the existence of an infection. Immune system activates your defenses to protect themselves from the threat of germs.
The fever so it is not a disease but a symptom that indicates that something is happening.
No doubt the fever is a symptom that puts on alert to parents since this sometimes can indicate that something serious could be happening in the body of the child.
Causes of fever
The origin of the fever normally found in mild conditions such as colds, pharyngitis, etc. Sometimes, on the other hand, it may be sign of something more serious. When we note a change in the temperature of the child, it is essential to measure it with a thermometer and observe the aspect in their State.
When to see a doctor?
• The child is less than 6 months and have a fever.
• If the child has more than 6 months and has a temperature of 39 degrees or higher.
• If it is less than 2 years and has had fever for more than 12 hours.
• If you have more than 2 years and has presented fever more than two or three days.
If small is too decayed, irritable, have seizures, breathing with difficulty, has patches of staining purple skin , has stiff neck (can't bend forward and touch the chest with the belly), stomach aches or progressive vomiting, difficulty swallowing, shows signs of dehydration, such as lack of four-to-five-hour urine, dry mouth or a thirst extreme.
What should you do?
• Leave the small scantily clad, a Pajama light or in diapers.
• Keep the room cool and ventilated, but prevents air currents.
• Give the child to drink lots of fluids.
• Avoid applying rubbing alcohol or cold cloths to not cause abrupt falls in temperature.
• Bathing the child with lukewarm water. The bath can last 15 minutes
It is super important that not you administer medications to your child if you don't know the dose that corresponds to their age and weight, since this can bring major complications.
