Great questions! Because the body has a particular range of optimal pHs depending on the system, theoretically it is no bueno to be neither too low nor too high outside of this range. Potentially one might see things like poor digestion, nausea, or concentration problems.

However, there are no known diseases that exist in an alkaline environment. There are a lot of factors that expose the body to acidity (poor diet, stress, the toxic external environment) vs. relatively few that expose it to alkalinity (like a plant based diet).

You can measure the pH of your urine, spit, or blood using a pH meter or litmus papers, and we have shared food suggestions for raising a low pH.
