in #health7 years ago (edited)

The information one gets online from a stranger in a forum may or may not be the best or the safest advice for ones skin. Some forums online recommend coconut oil for an acne prone skin but this causes more problems and breakouts on the face.

LEMON
Lemon is on the opposite side of the pH scale, with a pH of 2 and this makes it highly acidic and this causes a significant amount of arritation on the skin. It's phototoxic because after you apply it on your skin and you are exposed to the sun it causes blistering and rashes.. although it's known for its revitalizing and anti-ageing effect, also for its skin whitening and exfoliation qualities,It can cause problems for the skin if used without precaution
Listed below are the cautions to take before using lemon

  • Always use lemon with honey, aloevera, plain water, or rose water to reduce its acidity
  • Always use at night to avert any reaction due to the sun.
Drinking Lemon water every morning has its health benefit and can be very good for you.

BAKING SODA
Stop putting baking soda on your skin. I know more than 100sites recommend it for the skin but it's not only ineffective, it's damaging your skin. Your skin has a natural ph of 4.5 to 5, when you mess with its ph level you are playing with fire.baking soda is high alkaline with a ph of 9!!, which will significantly damage your skin's natural barrier which is very crucial for keeping bacteria out.

HOT WATER
Hot water strips your skin's moisture barrier. For those with acne prone skin, it causes break out and irritation

ALCOHOL
Rubbing alcohol on the skin is really bad and we must desist from it.its an anti bacterial disinfectant used to sterilize wound to sterilize wounds and also to clean the house but when it comes to the skin is a no no.it strips your skin barrier of essential lipids and protein, causing a decrease in moisture and an increase in bacteria and irritants getting in.

RAW APPLE CIDER VINEGAR
Using ACV as a toner for people with acne and hyper pigmentation is very bad. It's highly skin irritating and will cause inflammation and burns even after one use.

It can be used on the skin in low percentages but never more than 20%.
It's very effective for burning off skin warts and tags but continued use at full strength can cause permanent skin damage to surrounding tissues.
