How To Make Coconut Oil.
Some of you must have gotten tired of hearing about the "wonder-working-powers" of coconut oil. The question most people (especially housewives) want an answer to is... "How can I make this thing myself?"
I'll be giving you a step-by-step guide on how to produce coconut oil from the comfort of your kitchen.
*WARNING!!!
It's a bit tedious and only the determined will overcome.
Purchase healthy 6 (six) healthy, mature, de-husked coconuts.
Break the shell with a hammer and dispose of the water or refrigerate.
Separate the coconut flesh from the shell with a knife.
Shred the flesh using a manual grater or an electric blender.
Emulsify by adding water (2 parts grated coconut = 1 part water)
Extract the coconut milk using a sieve or muslin cloth.
Allow the milk to settle in a plastic container for about 2 (two) hours after which a natural separation will occur.
Scoop the milky curd from the top into a pan - leaving behind the skim milk (which should be disposed of).
Heat the milky curd at low temperature (60 degrees) for about 2 (two) hours until the oil begins to separate from the "latik".
Filter oil into a clean dry bottle.
And there you go! Sweet smelling COCONUT OIL from the comfort of your home.
