Penile whitening therapy is becoming a trend in Thailand.

Within a month, 100 men have visited Lelux Hospital in Bangkok to have a brighter future for their sex. The BBC reports that this therapy patient is not only from Thailand, but also Hong Kong, Cambodia and Myanmar.

Quoted from LiveScience, Friday (5/1/2018) Popol Tansakul as Marketing Manager Lelux said that the procedure uses the same laser with other skin care to solve melanin in skin cells.

Bunthita Wattanasiri, manager of the Lelux skin and laser treatment department, also said that they are very careful in carrying out the therapy. "It concerns the male vital organs. We use a small laser, "he said.

In its website, Mayo Clinic writes that this therapy works by destroying melanocytes or cells that produce melanin skin pigment without damaging the skin surface. Usually, this therapy is used to treat spots and certain black areas.

However, skin bleaching therapy using lasers is not without risk. Mayo Clinic writes that in addition to sensitivity to the sun, this therapy also has some side effects and may cause uneven skin tone.

Dr Thongchai Keeratihuttayakorn as Deputy General Director for the Department of Health of Thailand is also concerned about the application of such therapy in sensitive areas such as sex.

In a press release issued by the Thai Ministry of Public Health, Dr Thongchai said that the risks of skin bleaching therapy on genitalia include irritation, allergies, and swelling.
