Most famous failures of Google in its history
In the history of Google, everything is not joy. In this article, we have compiled some of his most famous failures: millions of dollars in projects that have not finally come forward.
Google is one of the largest companies in the world and one of the most powerful. Although its history is full of successes, such as Android or the web search engine itself, but not all Google launches have ended well, and it also has a long history of failures.
Among Google's failed products, there are some still active, but slowly dying.
Slowly Google is reaching more sectors. What will be its next adventure? At the moment we will look back to review the products that have not had any luck.
Google Plus
()
There is no doubt that it is the most famous failure of Google's recent history. The social network, designed to compete against Facebook, was quickly forgotten. with the passage of time has it aged and fallen into disuse, but it never came to meet expectations.![download.jpg]
It is still working today, although it is a just a matter of time before its closure.
Wave
Google Wave was launched in 2009 and closed just a year later because nobody used their service. But the loyal user base that they maintained did not like the decision at all.
This failure of Google; has more to do with a bad temporization, and perhaps it came too early.
Right now, eight years later, all these services have been integrated into the latest Gmail update, as a way to recognize the brand
Buzz
This is another of Google's failed product. It only lasted one year, from 2010 to 2011. It was immediately phagocytized by Google+, a service that promised to integrate all the others.
Neither Buzz got a great acceptance among Google users, nor got the audience. This messaging service was similar to Twitter, although the multiple failures of programming and development led it to its failure
It is another example of how Google has tried and failed to try to gain market share in social networks, but unfortunately seem to have ended.
Allo and Duo
We are now going with a couple of more recent applications and that Google has not yet failed. They are Google Allo and Duo, It was announced to hype a couple of years ago. They still receive updates, although the user base seems to be quite scarce.
The first one, Allo, was launched to compete against WhatsApp; an instant messaging app. The second, Duo, comes pre-installed on many Android devices; to compete with Skype and Facetime audience.
However, success has not been easy for either of them, they struggle to retain a few users. The operation of both is acceptable, and incorporate novel features such as the integration of the virtual assistant Assistant in conversations. However, if you want to knock down a monopoly you need much more than that.
Google Video Player
This application is from the pre-YouTube era. Before 2006, the year in which the Big G decided to bet on online video, Google Video Player. It was the app to share videos, It was an application with an integrated search engine and some of the features that have subsequently triumphed.
Needless to say that when Google bought YouTube, It was one of the first cases in which Google simply bought the competition instead of trying to fly on its own.
Picasa
Picasa was an independent website until Google bought it in 2004. Targeting the online photo sharing, it was an ideal tool for Google, who had a rough idea of its medium and long-term potential.
Almost ten years later, Picasa went into retirement with the launch of Google Photos, which is probably the most useful application for mobile devices. It is more modern and allows backups in the cloud, but also integrates some of the original Picasa features.
The acquisition was a long-term success, but perhaps a failed project of Google at that time, since Picasa not only failed to grow but was gradually sink into oblivion.
