in #health7 years ago (edited)

It is commonly used in Asian food. You probably know turmeric as the main spice in curry. Yup! and guess what? there's a lot of benefit you can get from turmeric, my husband use turmeric for lot of things sometimes i used it too (i put it in the coffee)  turmeric can help us to cure, prevent lot's of disease. Turmeric Contains Bioactive Compounds With Powerful Medicinal Properties

What is Turmeric

is a rhizomatous herbaceous perennial plant (Curcuma longa) of the ginger family, Zingiberaceae.[3] It is native to Southeast Asia, requiring temperatures between 20 and 30 °C (68 and 86 °F) and a considerable amount of annual rainfall to thrive. Plants are gathered annually for their rhizomes and propagated from some of those rhizomes in the following season.

Turmeric is also used as an enema for people with inflammatory bowel disease. Turmeric contains curcumin, a substance with powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Most studies used turmeric extracts that are standardized to include large amounts of curcumin.

Benefits We Can Get From Turmeric:

  •  Turmeric Can Help Prevent (And Perhaps Even Treat) Cancer
  •  For a dry cough, turmeric powder mixed with a teaspoon of honey taken three to four times a day is effective. You could also try preparing turmeric tea by adding one tablespoon of turmeric powder into 4 cups of boiling water. Keep for a few minutes, strain and mix in some lemon and honey to the liquid and drink.
  •  Useful in Preventing and Treating Alzheimer’s Disease
  •  Depression and Arthritis
  •  Delay Aging and Fight Age-Related Chronic Diseases
  • Skin
  • Use for roasted vegetables
  • Add it to rice
  • Use it in soups.
  • Blend it into a smoothie.
  • Make tea.

Is Taking Turmeric Is Safe?

Of-course it is safe. However, taking large amounts of turmeric for long periods of time may cause stomach upset

In addition, high doses of turmeric have been observed to cause:

  1. Nausea.
  2. Diarrhea.
  3. Increased risk of bleeding.
  4. Increased liver function tests.
  5. Hyperactive gallbladder contractions.
  6. Hypotension (lowered blood pressure)
  7. Uterine contractions in pregnant women.
  8. Increased menstrual flow.

And oh, before i forget. Castor oil with turmeric powder is a powerful toxin releaser for your skin. For women, like me it is great to apply to the breast and under arm because it will pull out harmful toxins from the lymph nodes and fat cells of the breast.

Great post. I folow you and vote do the same. Thanks

In India, there is hardly any dish where we don't put in a bit of turmeric. But it's always in powder form and the use is in little quantities. The great benefits of turmeric were discovered when people observed that the prevalence of Alzheimer's disease in India was a fraction of the global average.

Some people have a tiny bit of raw tumeric in the morning on an empty stomach. Some put in a little bit in a cup of warm milk and drink it before going to bed. But our cooking itself guarantees that we have some turmeric every day, and I really mean every day.

Best is to find a few recipes of Indian food that one likes and learn how to cook them. Turmeric is bound to be there.

My husband eats a small piece of the turmeric root every morning. And we have the turmeric stains in the kitchen to prove it 😝!
