What is Turmeric
is a rhizomatous herbaceous perennial plant (Curcuma longa) of the ginger family, Zingiberaceae.[3] It is native to Southeast Asia, requiring temperatures between 20 and 30 °C (68 and 86 °F) and a considerable amount of annual rainfall to thrive. Plants are gathered annually for their rhizomes and propagated from some of those rhizomes in the following season.
Turmeric is also used as an enema for people with inflammatory bowel disease. Turmeric contains curcumin, a substance with powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Most studies used turmeric extracts that are standardized to include large amounts of curcumin.
Benefits We Can Get From Turmeric:
- Turmeric Can Help Prevent (And Perhaps Even Treat) Cancer

Great post. I folow you and vote do the same. Thanks
In India, there is hardly any dish where we don't put in a bit of turmeric. But it's always in powder form and the use is in little quantities. The great benefits of turmeric were discovered when people observed that the prevalence of Alzheimer's disease in India was a fraction of the global average.
Some people have a tiny bit of raw tumeric in the morning on an empty stomach. Some put in a little bit in a cup of warm milk and drink it before going to bed. But our cooking itself guarantees that we have some turmeric every day, and I really mean every day.
Best is to find a few recipes of Indian food that one likes and learn how to cook them. Turmeric is bound to be there.
My husband eats a small piece of the turmeric root every morning. And we have the turmeric stains in the kitchen to prove it 😝!
