Loosing Weight Doing Chores

in #health8 years ago

More and more people are working from their homes and finding those jobs do not require the use of muscles. Here is what will help you keep your weight in check while doing your daily chores.

Turn on some of your favorite lively tunes and move to the rhythm of the music while you clean. As you mop the floor, you use many muscles and if you do it for 30 minutes, depending on your weight, you can loose about 100 calories, plus you strengthen arms and biceps.

The vacuum is your friend. If you vacuum for half an hour, you can burn up to 125 calories. This job may seem boring, but it does help you strengthen your legs and back muscles; not to mention, a very clean carpet. Laundry is another chore that helps you strengthen your arms and legs while you can burn about 50 calories.

When talking on the phone, do not sit in a chair. Move your arms and walk around. If you live in a home with stairs, they are great for increasing your fitness level. Run up and down your steps for about five minutes; you will receive just as much benefit as owning expensive gym equipment. Even cooking helps burn calories. Bending to find the pans and lifting the kettles you need to make your recipe all burns calories.

As you keep your house clean, you must also keep your yard clean. Cleaning gutters, raking the lawn and pushing a lawn mower will help keep you in shape. You can loose just as much from doing these activities as you would walking on a treadmill. You can even loose weight while playing a game of basketball with the kids. Just remember to keep moving.
