WATER POLLUTION IN RURAL AND URBAN CENTERS
Water pollution is contamination of water bodies to make them to be unsafe to drink. A lot of people nowadays in the remote or rural areas do not get portable water to drink. Some of these people are now drinking water with animals while others also drink dirty water.
- We have many causes of water pollution. Below are some of the causes of water pollution in most of the rural areas in rural and urban centers.
Causes of Water Pollution
- Disposal of waste materials into water bodies has been a major source of water pollution.
Along the coastal belt, people dump refuse and excreta in two rivers and seas. Also, people dump industrial waste into rivers and streams. All these factors contribute to water pollution.
- Oil spillage from production, distribution and refining sites also causes water pollution.##
Dirty oils spills that find its way into seas and rivers from faulty tankers contaminate the water. As a result of this aquatic animals in the water dies.
- Untreated sewage from human also contribute to water pollution.##
Defecating into rivers and dumping of animal excreta into water bodies leads to water pollution in cities and towns.
Agrochemicals##
When fertilizers, pesticides and weedicides improperly applied, rainwater washes this agrochemicals into rivers and lakes. This has been a main cause of water pollution in rural areas.Acids
Acid mine water and acid rains contaminate water bodies. Acid discharge from mining firms flow into rivers and streams to pollute water bodies.
