Calming the racing mind!
Feeling nervous? Anxious? Experiencing racing thoughts that are going in all directions?
When the wind element is out of balance in our body, we can feel agitated, fearful and unfocused.
Bringing balance requires some exploration and... patience! A slower yoga practice that emphasizes grounding yoga asanas like standing and seated postures can be supportive, as well as slower movements, or even a restorative practice. I have also found that placing the forehead on a hard surface (like a yoga block or a chair) when practicing certain asanas like balasana, adho mukha svanasana or uttanasana can be very suiting for the racing mind!
Choosing warm, nourishing meals like soups, chicken and cooked vegetables is very supportive, and it's best to avoid cold, dry and raw foods. Even a salad (and obviously food cooked in the air fryer!) can fuel imbalances when our wind element is overactive! Yoga and ayurveda are rich, yet simple sciences : they teach us how to bring balance by reducing the aggravated elements, and increasing their opposite.
The seat of Vata (wind), in the body, is located at the navel (second chakra) - so if you want to treat yourself to luxurious self-care, warm up a bit a organic sesame oil and massage this area (or even better give yourself a full body massage) to bring back Vata into balance.
Meditating in the forest, and connecting to the Wood elemental, the Trees and the Earth's consciousness is very grounding and healing!
