About a year ago a large piece of the lava formed cliffs of Volcano National Park in Hawaii gave way to the ocean. Like severing a major artery, the cliff exposed a large lava tube with mountains of pressure behind it. The lava spewed out from a hundred feet high or more and lasted for 2-3 months before finally returning to a normal ocean flow. I was lucky enough to be in Hawaii when the event occurred and spent a week capturing it by land, air, and sea.
