Tesla Closes its International Market Place Store in Honolulu Hawaii

Well Elon Musk said they were closing the brick and mortar stores and sure enough they are closing. The brand new, posh, store at the International Market Place in Waikiki Honolulu Hawaii is closing not long after it opened. There is one more store at the Ala Moana Center which remains open but the fate of that store remains uncertain. The reason for the closures is that Tesla will sell all of their cars online.

I am curious as to the cost of the store closures especially knowing the commercial lease market in Hawaii. I really want to know how they got out of the leases. Hawaii is unlike many other States where it is very difficult to get out of leases. The other major cost is how much it cost to build out the space. Most likely Tesla got a build out allowance, or free rent, from the International Market Place to move in, and now they are gone. That must have cost Tesla a pretty penny UNLESS they are going to keep the location as a showroom, but that remains to be seen.
