People Watching After HF 20 - The First Few Hours
It felt like a ghost town right after Hard Fork 20. I occasionally refreshed my Steem Feed to see if any new posts were being created, but there was NOTHING!
And when you can't find information from your favorite Steem Condenser, you know where to run to for information, RIGHT? Discord!
The Discord channels were seeing some action. There were questions. There were concerns. There were comments (and some were not so nice). But what was most clear was that everyone was impacted. This was a system-wide problem.
So I did what all great Steemians were doing? I keep ...

- testing what I could do to figure out what I could not do

But like most of you, I was running a resource credit deficient.
Orcas And Whales Started Showing Up!
And then it happened!
I saw the first post in my Steem Feed. Whew! What a relief! And then a few more trickled in.
But wait a minute. My feed still seems a bit light. I am only seeing some of the larger accounts that I follow. They had reputations in the high 60 or even higher. So I checked out their Steem Power (everyone was in the 100,000's or more).
I checked the New Post tab and I saw the same thing, but with one exception.
Where Do You Come From Little Guy?
Scattered among posts from Steem influencers were some posts from accounts with a reputation of 25. Interesting!
So I did some more research and noticed that all of the smaller accounts that I saw posting had been created shortly before the hard fork or had been created after the hard fork.
For a brief moment, these plankton were swimming with the orcas and the whale. The ocean waters were clear and open. They were on display for all to see, but no one was voting for them. There 15 minutes of fame was gone.
The Rest Of The Ocean Is Starting To Show Up
With some time and some patches, it seems like things are equalizing. And with a little bit more time, most of us will have our voting power up to full strength.
I think a lot of people are still scared. I am just trying to take it one day at a time. And in a few weeks, if nothing major happens (again) then we will all go about our business.
- Should things have been handled differently? Sure!
- Should we work towards solutions that prevent this type of thing from happening? Sure!
- Can we allow ourselves to be paralyzed when we face adversity? No!
Final Thoughts
If the long-term goals of HF 20 are beneficial for the Steem community, then we will look back at this time as a minor bump in the road.
I guess we have to wait and see.

My Resource Credits reached 100% (1.1MM), but I do not know why my Voting Mana is so low... I had read a lot about HF20, and did not expected that the VP will reduce after the roll out. Any hints why this happent?
Overall, we have to wait little more to realise if spamming is indeed decreased dramatically, and what is the effect on the behaviour of the big whales.
A lot of people have experienced low voting power. Mine is finally back up to 90%, so I am ready to start normal interaction again. I am not exactly sure what happened to VP but it seems to have impacted almost everyone.
I believe that it will still be a few more days before we see all of the impacts of HF20. Even though the changes and patches have already been rolled out, people are still trying to figure things out. I do hope that spamming decreases, but I am afraid that some smaller accounts have been inadvertently impacted as well.
Sure, its affected things. For a while I couldnt post or upvote anything. My upvote has gone down in value, which is annoying.
Things are slowly ironing out, I think. Ive been busy in real life as well, which has kept me from posting much, but Im planning on posting some stuff next week.
Hopefully things keep getting smoother!
Sometimes it is good to take a break from the digital world and focus on offline life. See you around when you start posting again.

Saya sangat kaget dengan votingpower saat diberlakukan HF20. Baru memberikan upvote 6 kali sudah turun dari 100% menjadi 23%. Ternyata ada beberapa vote kepada artikel atau komentar sendiri. Sepertinya kita semua dikena HF 20. Tapi kalau Steem Power lebih besar, jumlah resource credit lebih besar juga, jadi bisa lakukan lebih banyak kegiatan di Blockchain Steem.
Kita mungkin harus nunggu lebih lama lagi untuk memahami efek HF20 sepenuhnya. Semoga sukses!
Sure it was, I cannot post anything since 2 days ago, and now I just posted one test post with 2 pictures on it, I saw my RC back to full strength again just this morning, and last night I pause all auto vote transaction, just to recharge my RC.
Steemit.com released a patch today so that RC would recharge faster. I am glad that you can now post. My family and I are doing well. How is your family?
