An open letter to @haejin

Hello @haejin,

It's a pleasure to meet you, my name is @reasonable, and I have a few things I would like you to hear. Please be patient, and try not to be quick to rush to action, I just want to talk.

First of all, thank you for joining and being on Steemit! You have gained a massive influence on this incredible platform in a very short amount of time, congratulations! It is truly amazing that we have this place, that it has attracted people as influential as you, and it is obvious to me that you can see the potential here, which is why you are choosing to utilize this platform.

We all know that over the past few weeks and months there has been some contention within this community and there is no ignoring the fact that it has been connected with you. I assure you, most people who use and enjoy Steemit are saddened by this, and we wish it weren't so. Most people here love the fact that they can earn rewards from their hard work, and they equally love the fact that anyone else can do so as well. Most people here want us all to succeed, because we all see the potential of this place, and we realize that if we work together as a community, we all can succeed.

Most people on Steemit want you to succeed @haejin, and you are succeeding.

There are many here who enjoy your posts @haejin, and there are many who do not. This is ok, it's part of life and part of this system. Not everyone has to enjoy what you do, and not everyone has to support it, there are many who do love what you do, and many who do support it. This same rule applies to everyone here, and I think most would agree that it is a good thing. There is variety, there is diversity, there is a healthy exchange of ideas, content, opinion, and rewards. Steemit is a healthy community.

As in any functioning and healthy relationship, compromise will always be necessary. If a relationship becomes one sided, if one person becomes overly selfish or unwilling to compromise, the relationship will soon end. A relationship without compromise cannot work. Communities are much like relationships. They need cooperation and compromise. They depend on the hard work and input of each person involved. There are also often rules, guidelines, and customs.

Like any healthy community, Steemit has rules, guidelines, and customs, and this is what I would like to talk to you about @haejin.

You have a massive amount of support and influence on this site which results in your posts earning very substantial rewards each and every day. You notice that I said "earning" because you do earn these rewards. They are not some gift from the gods, they are not handed to you for doing nothing, or because you are entitled to them, you earn them by following the rules of this platform.

You post content, and you use your stake to upvote that content. In addition those that support you use their stake to upvote your content as well. This is all well within the rules of Steemit.

Your posts are tagged appropriately, to my knowledge you do not plagiarize or actively try to scam people to steal from them and from what I can see you mostly keep to yourself and don't start drama. This is all well within the community guidelines and customs of Steemit.

There is one thing that you do though @haejin, which has been causing these recent waves we have been seeing.

You post many, many, many times per day.

There is no rule barring this activity, or limiting it, though there used to be. I have been active on Steemit under a different user name since the middle of 2016, and back then there used to be a rule that if you posted more than 4 times in a 24 hour period, your post payouts would decrease exponentially for every post past four. The purpose of this rule was to keep in check those who hold a massive stake on this platform from abusing their power to divert a majority of the community reward pool to themselves.

Obviously that rule is no longer active on this platform, however many in the community of Steemit still view excessive posting and self upvoting to be a selfish behavior, a greedy one if you will.

Steemit has a well spring @haejin, at the center of this community is a place that we all have the opportunity to gain our rewards from. It is for all of us to share and enjoy, and we all can, and we all do. Many of us put a lot of time and effort into crafting original, artistic, informative, enjoyable content on this platform so that we can share it with the community, and so that the community can reward us for it. Most of us do it within moderation, because we know that we are part of a community, part of a relationship, and we don't want it to be one sided.

There is nothing wrong with your posts @haejin. They are well crafted and informative. The problem is with the amount of posts you put up every single day. Many days I have seen you exceed 11 or 12 posts per day, ALL of which were well in excess of $300 post payouts. That is over $3,600 per day @haejin, significantly more than I personally make working a full time job in one month.

We all know why you post 12 times per day, because you can, because it is making you more rich. You know what you are doing @haejin, we all do. You have found a way to exploit this place, and you are doing it. I'm not asking you to stop posting @haejin, I'm not asking you to leave Steemit. I'm simply asking you to take into consideration the community.

All of your many posts per day could realistically be put into 3 or 4 combined posts, it would likely even take you less time to put your posts together if you were to combine them. It would be completely reasonable to see 3 or 4 posts a day from you, each making $300 to $400 per post or more.

Is $1,600 per day too little @haejin?

You are an asset to this community, you have a massive influence here. This community wants you to be here, as we all want to be here ourselves, but we need compromise, we all do.

Please @haejin, you know what you are doing. Would you consider making a compromise, to help bring some peace to this community?

If this letter to @haejin resonated with you, please consider upvoting it, but more importantly, if it resonated with you, if you agree with this sentiment, please consider resteeming it this post. I don't care about rewards, I have my own personal account for that. I want to make a statement, and I want to try to bring some resolution here. I know that there are many, many people here on Steemit who share my feelings about this, but I simply don't have the power to do anything about it.
