HACKING:
I am an engineer by profession and I spend 10–12 hours everyday infront of the computer. I know fair bit of protocols, languages and hacking methods. In past, I have tried different methods to prank my friends and relieve them of their passwords. I can assure you, there is no way in hell a 16 year old geek can hack satellites, mobile phones, or even social media accounts in a few minutes. NO WAY IN HELL.
First of, lets start with the easiest of the targets - a personal computer used by a non tech savvy grandpa. The most popular way to hack a computer is by injecting a Trojan horse, which itself takes quite a long time (read days, weeks). To inject a trojan horse, first off you need to make the victim RUN some exe file or script. Then you have to make sure that their antivirus does not block it. Then yes, you can have full control over their PC - but nonetheless you still need them to have a stable and quick internet connection to be able to reach their files and folders. See, this process to hack even a grandpa computer takes weeks and relies on chances. We have not even touched the topic of satellite hacking or ISP hacking. Those systems are well protected by different layers and breaking each of those layers requires specialized trainings, methods and computer language skills. A 16-year old teen can’t do that. If he could, he would be hired by companies like Google and Facebook for millions of USDs. He wouldn’t be playing games in his dark room in basement of his parents’ home as portrayed in the movies.
Agree
Yeah, nowadays it's hard to do, but not so long as 30 years ago it was a different story. I've read a great book lately - Kevin Mitnicks biography Ghost in the wires. That guy could hack almost everywhere, using mainly social engineering, I really recommend it.
