Sorry you lost your friend.
I sometimes wonder about my old IRC buddies. This was way before social media, and people kept pretty anonymous, so there's no way to track anyone down or find a recorded history of anything we said.
I'm pretty sure though, that years later, they are having the same thoughts as me.
