From the micro to the macro; existence on different scales...
The gut Flora, otherwise known as the bacteria that occupies our digestive track, is being rediscovered as the key to health and vitality. A natural symbiosis between microbial life and and a much larger life form. The microscopic bacteria which calls our body home, it's planet, it's ecological habitat that provides it with a stable place to perform it's life functions. To the smaller organism the health of it's home is vital to its own survival, and the same can be said for the large organism. If the human's microflora is unhealthy with an imbalance of bad to good bacteria ratio then large organism becomes ill. This is all quite reminiscent of our relationship with the earth. We can be considered the microflora of the earth, living out our existence on a larger living organism that provides us with a nurturing environment, with exception to the occasional natural disasters. So I ask, are we doing our part to take care of our microbial life as well as our macrobial life? This interconnected dependence clearly displays the important relationship between the big and the small, each living out their life while also being affected by the other...
