Gut Bacteria, treatment for diabetes
Gut microbial community of diabetic patients is getting more attention for the treatment of diabetes. New Research tells us that eating fiber diets may encourage growth of such gut bacteria which could help to decrease the diabetes as well as obesity, so how this is done?
Several experiments have shown that low level of short chain fatty acids is associated with diabetes, which is produced by the action of bacteria on carbohydrates to convert them into short chain fatty acids. These fatty acids help to reduce inflammation and regulate hunger. In a study, two groups were formed, one received the standard dietary fiber, others utilize high levels of dietary fibers. diets also include probiotics to encourage the growth of bacteria that form short chain fatty acids. Blood sugar was controlled by Acarbose in both the groups. After 12 weeks group which was on high dietary fiber shown reduction in 3 months average blood glucose levels, their fasting blood glucose level also reduces up to the significant amount and they also lost their weight as compared to control groups. This study helps to interpret at the idea of reducing hyperglycemias conditions by the utilization of high dietary fiber with more use of probiotics.
Losing weight by spending lots of exercises could be a difficult choice but some studies have shown that the obesity and skinniness are related to the type of bacteria present in the gut. An experiment on mice has proved that the mice that are genetically engineered to be obese have more Firmicutes and less Bacteriodetes and when these microbiota were transferred to germ free mouse (having no bacteria), they become obese so in future studies we need to look at how these bacteria can help in losing weight by a simple and easy way.
