RE: States Engage in Witch Hunt Against A Free And Open Internet- 3d Printed Guns
I've made a similar argument on one of Styx's earlier posts; see, not only am I heavily involved in 3D printing, but I also own gunsmithing equipment, and have even made replacement parts for some of my guns. Does giving someone a photocopy of a blueprint I drew up so that they can make parts with a lathe or milling machine draw as much ire from the anti-gun crowd? I imagine it would, if they knew just how common the practise was.
I posted this comment to two different people yesterday:
do you own a hacksaw and a drill? then you can start pumping out guns.
here you go:
Which right did I exercise by posting that to you, my first amendment right or my second amendment right?
Should posting what I just posted be a crime?
Anyone who printed a gun who would fail a background check would be committing a crime just like if they made the pipe shotgun or bought a gun from a gun show.
Just like the example I posited, I'm fairly certain this is an exercise of rights protected under both ammendments. No crime here, and yet it drives the anti-gun crowd farther up a wall than a gecko after a housefly!
gun control is not about guns, it's about control.
