The FN-P90 & PS90

in #guns8 years ago (edited)

Used by Belgian special forces in the Gulf war, Wikipedia lists 400 "Base engineers" outfitted with the carbine as early as 1991. FN began production in 1990. The weapon is also known as the FN Project 1990. The PS90 is the civilian legal version with a longer barrel and no full-auto fire. It is technically a carbine, using a round designed originally for it and in hopes of replacing the common 9mm round. Due to some political and pocketbook reasons the ammo failed to become widely used as the 9mm and as a result is not cheap.

The 5.7×28mm cartridge accelerates its projectile at twice the speed of a 9mm round and while the bullet is a much lower weight than 9mm. The truth is speed defeats barriers. The civilian legal rounds stop just short of cinder block slicing levels of penetration. The ammo our Secret Service uses in their p90's can shred an armored car. Oh yeah did I mention the secret service carries P90's! You might not know because they conceal them under those suits all the time but run up on Trump too fast and you might find out!

To anybody that played Goldeneye 64 or still plays FPS's, The P90 is either the gun you love to hate or a mythical unicorn of firepower to be selected whenever possible. The low recoil and 50 round clip translates from real life in to a video game as an accurate medium range pwning machine. Plus in video games you can get the full auto version!

If you want a PS90 you'd better hurry to the gun store before all the gamers realize they can own the real version of their favorite video game gun.
