On 9/11 our lives changed forever. In response to the terrorist attack using Airplanes as weapons the TSA was created.We learned to live with the added security and inconvenience in return for the comfort of safe travel.

We feel secure when we see the Security Agent armed with a gun and a German Shepard watching the crowd of people.

It is past time we give our school children the same sense of security. Time for a SCHOOL PROTECTION AGENCY

Mr. President, Let's call a National Forum for Military Veterans from ALL states! Have Veteran Organizations in ALL states gather five of their top minds in the Security/Protection arena and call a Veterans Congress to come up with a national plan to protect our schools.

Here the standards would be set, plans made, funding drafts submitted to the President, petition to congress for National Authorization! Let these professionals draft the plan to harden and secure our schools.

We need to keep the bureaucrats and politicians in Washington out of this planning process. They will only muck things up, slow things down and try to take control. Once a plan is drafted it can be submitted to Congress and the appropriate departments for review and markup but the Veterans Congress will have the final decision what to send to your desk for approval and signature.

There are many private organizations that can provide formative assistance such as the NRA and Law Enforcement organizations.

I suggest command and control be kept at the state level as each state will have specific needs. For federal financial oversight I suggest this fall under the purview of the Veterans Administration. The V.A. could also help with physical and mental testing and evaluation.

The main thing I stress is keeping the decision how to employ the School Protection Agents be on the State level and in the hands of the Veterans Congress officers.
