Is not it different from what you saw in a movie?  

The use of a silencer does not mean that the noise disappears completely like a movie. 

There are three main reasons. 

First, the silencer is not absolute.

Naturally, even if the combustion gas is reduced in power through the silencer, it still generates noise.

Second ,the noise that comes out from the chamber.

When describing the principle of the silencer, I said the gases produce noise as they exited the muzzle?

However, the gas does not only escape from the gun, but also leaks out of the chamber.

Looking at the top, you can clearly see the flue gas leaking out of the chamber.

Therefore, the silencer can not catch up to such noise.

This part is also taken into account in the m24, a real US military sniper rifle.

Unlike the m21 (semi-automatic) sniper rifle of the previous generation, the m24 was built with bolt action

One of the reasons for this is that semi-automatic is automatically opened and closed in the chamber.

When the sniper rifle is equipped with a silencer, the semiautomatic chamber automatically opens and closes so that noises escape from the chamber.

Since the bolt action is manually opened and closed after the start of the explosion, the combustion gas rarely leaks out of the chamber, so that the noise reduction effect is great.

 
Finally, the third is the sonic boom.

In fact, this is the biggest reason.

 The sonic boom occur in all objects beyond the speed of sound. 

 
You know that bullets are faster than normal sonic speeds.

You usually hear a gunshot a few seconds after you hit a gun. 

So, of course, a bullet also causes a sonic boom. 

But this sound is really great. 

If the sound is 10, the sonic boom of this bullet will generate an enormously loud noise, which is about 50 times more than that.

2.subsonic ammo

Usually, when you want to make a complete noise effect, you will use a subsonic shot.

Subsonic bullet contain less charge than regular bullets, so the power is reduced and the sonic boom does not happen.

Sound varies depending on the type of shot.

Subsonic guns, of course, have a significantly shorter effective range than regular ones, but the power is not necessarily weak.

In Russia, subsonic bullets are operated with various sniper rifles and designated guns.

 
Then the subsonic silence without the silencer is useless? 

Is not.

Even if subsonic bullets are not used, the effect of the silencer varies so that the special unit is considered as a basic option. 

Even if a sonic boom occurs, the pronunciation is reduced anyway. It is better than knowing.

Also,it has an excellent effect in suppressing the muzzle flame.

There are many other effects of silencer, even if it is not noise effect.
