[ENG-ESP] Recreating Mom's Chicken Stew Recipe! // Recreando la receta de mamá de guiso de pollo!
Hello friends of Foodies Bee Hive! temperatures drop in Buenos Aires and delicious hot dishes rise in my home! This time I had chicken, and I had several possibilities to make, but I decided to opt for my mom's classic, the chicken stew.
Hola amigos de Foodies Bee Hive! bajan las temperaturas en Buenos Aires y suben los deliciosos platos calientes en mi hogar! en ésta oportunidad tenia pollo, y tenia varias posibilidades para hacer, pero decidí optar por un clasico de mi mami, el guiso de pollo.
Of course I am going to share the step by step with you so that you can recreate it at home! We are going to start with all the vegetables that this stew will have. Garlic, onion, bell peppers, pumpkin, potatoes, carrots, sweet potatoes, and green onion.
Por supuesto voy a compartiles el paso a paso para que puedan recrearlo en casa! Vamos a comenzar con todas las verduras que llevará éste guiso. Ajo, cebolla, morrones, calabaza, papas, zanahorias, batatas, y cebolla de verdeo.
We are going to start by washing and peeling the vegetables and first we are going to sauté the garlic, onion and bell peppers in a little oil and salt so that they start to release their juices.
Vamos a comenzar lavando y pelando las verduras y primero vamos a saltear el ajo, cebolla y morron en un poco de aceite y sal para que comiencen a largar sus jugos.
At the same time, we are going to start boiling the chicken, this is to remove as much fat as possible. It does not affect its flavor at all, and in this way it is healthier. We are also going to remove the small pieces of bone since there are little children in my family and it can be dangerous since they can drown. BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY! We are going to reserve a glass of the cooking broth. We add grated carrot and chicken to the pot where we sauté the vegetables.
Paralelamente vamos a comenzar a hervir el pollo, ésto es para quitarle la mayor grasa posible. No afecta para nada su sabor, y de ésta manera es mas saludable. Ademas vamos a quitarle los pequeños trozos de hueso ya que en mi familia hay niñitos y puede ser peligroso ya que se pueden ahogar. MEJOR PREVENIR QUE LAMENTAR! Vamos a reservar un vaso del caldo de coccion. Agregamos zanahoria rallada y el pollo a la olla donde salteamos las verduras.
Now we are going to add the glass of chicken broth and add the pumpkin.
Ahora vamos a agregar el vaso de caldo de pollo y agregamos el zapallo.
Now we are going to add the tomato puree and season to taste. I used salt and pepper of course, in addition to sweet paprika, ground chili and cumin. We are also going to add the potato and sweet potato.
Ahora vamos a pasar a agregar el pure de tomate y condimentamos a gusto. Yo utlicé sal y pimienta por supuesto, ademas de pimenton dulce, aji molido y comino. Tambien vamos a agregar la papa y la batata.
After approximately 10 min we are going to cover our pot so that the water comes to a boil and we are going to add the rice. Cover again without stirring and let it cook for 15 minutes. We turn off the fire and leave it covered.
Luego de aproximadamente 10 min vamos a tapar nuestra olla para que el agua lleve a punto de hervor y vamos a agregar el arroz. Tapamos nuevamente sin remover y dejamos que se cocine por 15 minutos. Apagamos el fuego y dejamos tapado.
