Why Upvoting Randos Won’t Help Bid-Bot Abuse

Here is an outline of the recording I have below where I explain the complexities of the @GrumpyCat situation. Below I will explain why @GrumpyCat flags people, what the Grumpy-Compliance is / why it exists, and how this relates to the overall politics surrounding steemit.

This is in response to Grumpster's 50 STEEM bounty for explaing basic Steem stuff to @the-resistance. This also lends to explain away many of the rumors. Disclaimer: This is my observation and others may have different observations/opinions on the matter. This may result in other people to provide heated slander. If you read anything below in the comments section that doesn't provide factual and logical contributions, you can assume these people are bringing in a different and biased contribution to the table.

Now let's dive in!

  1. Politics on SteemIt
    a. Who are politicians/Policy Actors?
    b. What constitutes politics?
    c. How Politics Works.
  2. @GrumpyCat's Politics
    a. Shitposting
    b. Bidbot abuse
    c. GrumpyCompliance
  3. Why GrumpyCompliance Works
    a. Bidbots are businesses: Profit Driven
    b. No way to attack businesses without attacking revenue stream (i.e. YouTube Ad Boycotts)
    c. Proven Effectiveness
  4. Dispelling Rumors
    a. Grumpy Cat is Promoting Own Bid Bot
    b. Grumpy Cat is "Stealing"
    c. Grumpy Cat is not a bully
  5. Wrap-Up
    a. Grumpy is not a bully, stealing profit motivated anon bernie.
    b. Grumpy aims to improve the steemit community.
    c. If you have been flagged, you aren't a "victim", you are a policy actor.

Warning: I recorded this half asleep. Bear with me.

Thanks for the informative post/video. I joined Steemit about a month ago, thinking it was a platform for content providers. Of course over the weeks I've realised the gamesmanship and manipulation that seems to be a foundational part of Steemit. Steemit has to find a way to give exposure to good minnow posters, or it will just be a pay-for-play platform. If this happens, I think most people who won't or can't pay for bots will leave Steemit for better platforms. Note - I'm am not a tech or crypto expert.

I would suggest watching the video as well. Much more informative ;)

Hello. Please follow and upvotes for me. Thank you very much
