[Gridcoin Marketing Method] Setting up your Google Alerts radar

in #gridcoin7 years ago

This article is part of my Gridcoin Decentralized Marketing series.

Pick your method, set it up and spend a few minutes per day to help Gridcoin getting in front of new potential crypto-researchers.

Google Alerts: Method outcomes

  1. A) You are able to react very quickly on (nearly) all online mentions of Gridcoin
  2. B) You are able to monitor competition keywords and enter into discussions that lead people to dealing with Gridcoin
  3. C) You are able to monitor science (BOINC) related keywords and point BOINC participants or science lovers to Gridcoin

Initial method setup

  1. Open https://www.google.com/alerts
  2. In the search box, enter (a) keyword(s) that you want to get alerts for. Each time when Google indexes new pages that match your keywords, you will get an alert via email or in the form of an RSS update. Choose one of the following options for your first keyword. Rinse and repeat later.
    2.1. Use advanced search operators
    A) Gridcoin mentions - Type in: gridcoin (for earch mention of gridcoin), intitle:gridcoin (for each document that contains gridcoin in its title)
    B) Competition mentions - Type in: brolem coin or brolem crypto(for each mention of a competition keyword. In order to make sure that you will get crypto related results, add "coin" or "crypto" to your keyword phrase). You can also use a phrase like this: coin + intitle:brolem in order to get articles with brolem in title with the context coin.
    C) BOINC/science related - Type in something with the scheme of the examples above. Here are some ideas:
    *energy consumption + intitle:boinc
    "aids cure with pc"
    "how to help science"
and so on... be creative and think about scenarios in which people might be interested in Gridcoin.
  3. Set up the frequency for your alert - choose if you want to get the emails once per day or immediately when new articles appear in Google's index.
  4. Let the "sources" on "automatic". You can also make dedicated alerts for new YouTube videos.
  5. Choose "all languages"
  6. The same for "all regions"
  7. Choose "all results
  8. Choose if you want to get the results to your inbox or in form of an RSS update.

Thats all. Save the alert and wait.

If you use Gmail or Outlook, you can now set up a filter which collects all Google Alerts emails in a dedicated folder.

Daily action taking

You can pick out 2-3 alert urls every day and start interactions. Read the article if its a blog article. Ask questions. Answer questions. It's pretty simple - you just have to mention Gridcoin in the conversation.

I hope you got the idea behind this method. You can think about scenarios and create complex keyword lists for new alerts. Especially variant B) Competition mentions and C) BOINC/science related will help to attract users that most likely didnt deal with Gridcoin yet.

Important: Don't SPAM comment sections with the same text over and over. Be authentic. Let people know that you're a Gridcoin supporter. Don't fake it and play real. The key is to get conversations running, just like you would do it on a science meetup.

I honestly thought gridcoin was dead. Wil follow your posts.
