However, they managed a "BOINC Pentathlon" over the weekend, so they seem capable to distribute the WUs.

And if grey-/whitelisting would work as intended, there should be no problem to have it whitelisted, if they want to. If there is no work, then greylist it again. It is not the first project with intermediate work distribution, look no further than GPUGRID.
