#gratefulvibes - Big Bad Wolf, Big Book Sale in World Trade Philippines
This is a late post. I never thought, it my whole existence that I will experience to see a whole warehouse of books. I am a book worm. I choose hard bound over soft bound. I love books more than movies. With books, my imagination works wonders and it even makes me wise, lol. I love receiving book as gifts. I have list of my favorite authors, from John Grisham, Nicholas Sparks, Sydney Sheldon, Judith McNaught, Stephanie Meyer and the likes of them. I have lots of PDF and my collection of Chicken Soup for the Soul are tremendous. Book is life for me. Book is magic. Book is everything. Because of this, the Big Bad Wolf is Love!!
Big Bad Wolf is a book fair that is originally from Malaysia and most Asian countries like Thailand, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and the Philippines. Last February 15, they started a week long book fair held at the World Trace Center, Pasay City Philippines. This one ended last February 25.
The founder are Andrew Yap and Jaqueline Ng. Books are all came from remaindered books that came from international distributor. From suspense, romance, comedy, religion, children books, instructional and activity books, coloring books to literature, it has all.
I visited World Trade Center last February 16. This is my first time so I was so excited. I wore my glasses to clearly see what is in store for me.
I was really shock to see the number of people visited and the books that are on the shelves. It has a lot. I noticed that there are more people on the Fiction side.
I am so happy to see young adults very busy checking the summary of stories at the back of the books. The age ranges from 12 to 35 years old. It makes me feel happy because I thought everyone was just using an app to read books, into downloading and reading online. I never thought that there are lots of millennials that are really into books and having a hard copy of it.
There are lots of books. It makes my mouth waters literally. Even if my feet were aching that time because I know I had walked a lot because I am checking every book stall, I still feel the excitement because I am longing for this kind of event for long time.
I can't even imagine how I able to snap pictures because I know I was too busy checking out and looking for the books of my favorite authors. Everyone has a moving crate, that is full of books. They are really seriously engaged, that makes me mor excited.
After an hour of looking for my favorite authors, I realized that they were already sold out. Most of the books are now on the cage where the future owners are now keeping them, going to pay for them later on. My energy went down and I try my luck for knowing some authors. I was really lost but I keep on going. I found two books that has an interesting plot and I hold them tightly. I keep looking until I get tired.
As I was about to pay for the two books, I didn't like what I saw.
Look at the photo above. There were lots of people waiting in a long line. Most of them were holding lots of books and some are even with a cage full of books. I looked at my hand and I was seeing two books. I cannot handle the stress of falling in line for longer hours for only two books. I really thought about it for 15 minutes, that I decided to leave the two books and pass on my change of having them as a souvenir for this important event.
See the long lines of people, I cannot compete with them. Most of them really bought a lot. I wish I had that big money and solid effort to own lots of books.
I did not get anything.
I went home really sad.
However, I am happy. I am grateful.
I am grateful to think that there are events like this that they started which makes everyone get closer to reading books again. This is the kind of future I want with our youth of today. I want them to read books. I want them to use their imagination and be creative. I want them to get inspire and fired out the author that is within themselves. The next John Grisham, Stephanie Meyer and Sophie Kinsella was in there. In the future, more books to read because talented authors are coming out.
I am grateful! I thank the founder of Big Bad Wolf for initiating this one because this what we all should be doing. We should introduce books to our youth and learn from it. It will be guide in life and to future talents. This event will be out very soon, again so I am following their social media for more updates.
Thanks Big Bad Wolf. Next time, I will have lots of books.
