Hi Graphic Designers!

I'm thrilled to have completed this incredible journey in graphic design! It was six weeks of constant learning and competing. On my part, I wasn't this excited at the beginning. To be sincere, I didn't join week 1-3 lessons, though I read through them, and then something happened that forced me to take this course. My kids mistakenly subscribed to 1 year of Canva Pro, and I was charged 24,000 Naira, goodness! I was devastated when I received the debit alert. I meant that it was a whopping 80 Steem tokens. My brother @iddy was there, he said and I quote "Calm down Sis, you can make something good out of any situation, you know you can make good use of this package by joining a course on graphic design on Steemit" though I felt reluctant, but he was so believed in me that I will become a star so summoned up courage and joined the course and here I am today celebrating my success!

  • My heartfelt appreciation goes to our amazing sponsors the Steemit team; who funded this course for us, and not only this you still rewarded us for learning, I will forever be indebted to you♥️
  • To our inspirational & dedicated teacher @lhorgic, thank you for your guidance, support, and encouragement; this fueled my creativity. Thank you for believing in me.

  • To my brother @iddy I know I've made you proud, thank you so much for believing in me, and to all my friends who normally appreciate my designs through encouraging commendations and upvotes, I appreciate you 💕

With gratitude and pride, I celebrate completing my 6-weeks graphic design course! The journey has been transformative, and I'm eager to design a brighter future!

Steps I Took To Make The Above Design:

I first launched my canvas app and then chose my template, which was 1080x1080px (Instagram template). I went for a white background, and then I wrote my username on it to serve as a watermark to my design. Then, I click on the gallery and choose a picture I will use to make a transparent background.

After that, I clicked elements, searched for luxury spiral golden ribbons, and placed them where I wanted. I went back to elements again and chose a circular frame for my image. I placed it in the middle of my design.

Next, I clicked elements again and chose a circle shape. I placed the circle at the bottom of my design and enlarged it to how I wanted it. Then I clicked the color wheel and used the hex code #253759 to fill in the blue.

The next step I took was to add my image, so I clicked gallery, chose a picture, and clicked add to the page, next, I removed the image background, by clicking on removed BG, and then placed the image inside the small circle and added some magic golden ribbons on the background.

*I clicked on elements and then searched for Golden ribbon. Luxury gold label. Glossy met and added to my design; I placed it under my image and then made the necessary adjustments. After that, I clicked on text and chose Trebuchet MS as my font.

Lastly, I wrote my text, first steemit.com because I studied this course for free on this prestigious platform; I made it a heading Steemit team deserved the accolades; next was how I felt, yeah though not a pro, I'm a graphic designer! After 6 weeks of training. I wrote my username on the Golden ribbon. Luxury gold label. Glossy met, and lastly, my vision which was the body text. I used uniform font and color with the Hex code #253759 for all the text apart from the white body text. While I have different font sizes for each text to place emphasis.*

I continued making some adjustments to my font sizes, changing images to suit my taste, and some design, I also made some necessary alignments until I achieved what I desired!

Here Are The Fundamental Design Principles That Enhance My Design:

To make the above eye-catching design, I applied several principles, and it came out beautiful:

Visual Principles: I applied the principles of balance, making sure of symmetry equilibrium. This principle helped me to choose the perfect colors for my design, which are blue, white, and a touch of gold. The color, size, and texture are different for visual appeal. I applied alignment, organizing elements along paths, grouping them well, and creating unity. I've focused attention on key elements by emphasizing them. The last for visual principles is movement; I've been able to guide the viewer's eye through design.

Color Principles: There's harmony in my color combination. I used color hex code #253759 to choose the dominant blue, and I decided to use Contrast luxury spiral golden ribbon and Golden ribbon. Luxury gold label Glossy met to compliment the blue. Then, the white background balances the colors for me.

Typography Principles: My text is legible; I used clear font (Trebuchet ms), and they are not readable and consistent, too, because I used the same font style. I've applied the principle of hierarchy; Steemit.com is the heading because I learned graphic design here, followed by my achievement as the subheading and then my thoughts as the body, accordingly.

Composition Principles: I've used shapes and lines to mirror elements; I also left some negative space to enhance focus.

User Experience (UX) Principles: my information is clear and simple to understand, my design is minimal and intuitive, and I make use of standardized elements.

Lastly, I Have Test And Iterate: what do I mean? After designing, I focus on making necessary adjustments and improvements to better align my design with my needs and preferences. Just checked out the process here:

1000161965.jpgMy first design1000161652.png Second design1000161789.png And I settled for this!

You can see I kept making adjustments and improvements in my design until I got what I wanted. I changed font sizes, the golden ribbons 🎗️ and even my image to the one that depicts my feelings!

Applying these principles to my design makes it visually appealing, effective, and user-friendly!

What do you think of my design? I'll be glad if you comment, see you all in season 21!

Hello @goodybest thank you for participating in this week's lesson. We have assessed your entry and we present the result of our assessment below.

Feedback:

Let me start by appreciating you for coming this far with me on this six weeks course and also commending you for the effort put into this practical, I love the outcome of your step, your design looks cool.

Your design is nice and of course there is always room for improvement based on what you have leant so far. Allowing that background image extend to the top as full background would have been doper... I also wished you have added something about Canva i.e Canva logo and the duration for the lecture to make it more detailed.

In all, you did beautifully well and I must commend you for a job weldone. Thanks for staying through the whole process, I hope we continue this journey together in the next season. I wish us the very best.

I am proud of you. The way you pick up with the course is highly commendable.

To my brother @iddy I know I've made you proud, thank you so much for believing in me, and to all my friends who normally appreciate my designs through encouraging commendations and upvotes, I appreciate you 💕

The above made me shed tears. You are a source of encouragement to many on the platform; keep soaring; the sky is your starting point.

Your designs look perfect, you design like someone who has been a professional graphic designer before. Your final design is beautiful ☺️.

@lhorgic, weldone, this shows you are a great teacher, you have trained many to become graphic designers in just six weeks.

Smiling 😊😊 your good wishes and encouragement mean a lot to me, and what more can I say than I'm encouraged! And I appreciate you!

@iddy, thanks for the commendation, I really appreciate. I just decided to do what I know to do best and am super glad she could catch up half way into the lessons, am surprised myself about the massive results so far. Reading her story this evening made me all emotional, seeing that she drew strength from an experience that seem to be a disadvantage to her. Am indeed happy the the journey and the result so far.

You are welcome prof
