RAISING SHEEP IN A SMALL SPACE
If you have a small space to start the sheep breeding business, it may be possible to find some indications for this here.
First of all you must organize yourself, see the resources you need, evaluate that list by reviewing how much of those resources you have and then what things you should acquire and look for a budget from it.
Choose the breed by focusing on the purpose for which you do it ,if it is for the market you must choose a commercial or well-known breed; if it is for its meat the Barbado red, California or Romanov. However, if you want the sheep for their wool, choose American Cormo or Panama sheep. Breeding dairy sheep may consider East Friesian or Lacaune breeds.
Calculate the space per sheep for about every 6 sheep you would need an acre ,if they can graze you save the purchase of food and that would be beneficial to you.
- Buy your at a reputable place ,seek advice from people in your local business ,choose healthy animals that are of good size and are well-structured according to the muscle.
- Make sure that the space you have for breeding has a good water supply, the sheep are at risk of dehydration if they don't have an accessible water source, a large canal fed with a garden hose can be adapted to your purpose.
- They must have a proper structure to live in, sheep need shade in summer and must be protected from the wind in winter, if you can get a tarpaulin big enough to cover them from the sun would be excellent.
- It is necessary to be informed about the vaccines they need against serious infectious diseases, seek guidance from a veterinarian for this.
I hope these few guidelines will get you started, remember to seek much more guidance on the subject before you begin so that you are ready in any situation that arises, many blessings.
