Governors Island on a summer like fall day
The surf was not up, so we decided to check out Governors Island for the day.
Governors Island is a 172 acre island between Manhattan and Brooklyn. Upon leaving the dock, we were greeted with some interesting graffiti. It's by an artist, Lawrence Weiner whose medium is language. The meaning behind it is the relationship between two places and what links them together. Like saying hello and goodbye and all of the people who have come and gone through that way over the years.

Ahhhh, the kids are free to run!
Colorful art made from bullet casings by Margaret Roleke.
You can get around the island on foot, bicycle, roller blades and by golf cart.
And when you need to take a rest, there are several areas where you can nap on hammocks or read a good book.
