The question of the Legitimacy of Government.

in #government7 years ago (edited)

Here's a question for you: If it is accepted as fact that you yourself as a private citizen (or any private citizen for that matter) do not have the intrinsic right to either draft a law (any law), and/or enforce such a law (in such a way defined as vigilantism) on any other private citizen, either domestic, or global, how can any private citizen, or even a collective of private citizens properly delegate, or "elect" officials to do this for them, and hiring professionals to enforce such a system? You would call this institutionalized vigilantism, or "policing" which enforces such laws or policies on themselves and others in such forms as taxation, to support such things as wars (imposing policies, laws and ideologies on global citizens) The ultimate question here is that, the idea of any government even a government "of the people, by the people, and for the people" self contradictory, meaning that the premise of any government, even that of a republic, is illegitimate, especially our own? Our constitution after all, no matter its redeemable qualities, bases its own logic and reasoning for its republic, on the idea of intrinsic human rights. However, it innately infringes such rights as the right to "life, liberty, and happiness" from the get go, in such ways as allowing the enforcement of such ideas as a citizen working for anybody, be it private or public entities or corporations, not being able to enjoy the fullness of their pay, property, and purchasing power (income, property, and sales taxes), because any and every government must tax its citizens as a necessity to survive, and even provide public services to its people. Side note: if you think about it, such a system is absolutely unsustainable, because no tax, or even all taxes of a working class private citizen equals the worth of a public servant's services rendered, eg. full time pay, especially when it is only a fragment of their own pay, and when such public servants have to pay the same taxes themselves.
