DON'T EAT MEAT

in #govegan7 years ago

When I was growing up I believed animals were put on this earth to serve mankind. It was almost as if I was trying to brainwash myself into believing this, to justify my part in man's cruel practices towards the animal kingdom.

In my late twenties I started to find it harder and harder to stomach eating meat. It got to the point that I could only swallow the finest cuts of meat. Whether it was because I had been meditating for a few years and starting evolving in some way or the fact I had recently adopted my first pet, I don't know. Whatever it was, the growing awareness that I
was actually putting part of a dead body, in my body, started to hit me, as did the realisation of the cruelty involved in the process of putting that meat on my plate. "WTF was I doing", I said to myself. I couldn't do it anymore.

Over the years I am so glad I made this decision and in the age of the internet I am learning so much faster that a whole food plant based diet is the healthiest and only way to live. I haven't been to a doctor because I was sick, in years, and never intend to go again. I have learned plant based food is our medicine.

So why do we feel comfortable eating a chicken or a pig and not a cat. Why do we feel it is good & healthy to drink milk from a cow and not a dog,

.

It is all due to indoctrination from an early age. If we are told a lie often enough, sooner or later we will believe it to be true and just about everything we have been told is a lie.

I do not want to be branded as another militant vegan. I just want to inform people about the truth and then let them decide how they wish to live their lives. Fortunately, in recent times the vegan movement is growing at a frenetic pace. I think millennials are more open to change and questioning of the status quo, than my baby boomer generation.

I am very confident stating that in 20 years time eating meat will be frowned upon just like smoking is today.

If you are thinking about giving veganism a go, or transitioning to vegetarianism, I recommend you google a guy called Gary Yourofsky. He is a hero of mine. He is 47 years old and looks 27.

The health benefits of eating a plant based diet can readily be found on the internet. I can also assure you that with a little time and effort, plant based meals are delicious. It is so good to know you are eating clean and healthy and that your body is saying "thank you" with every mouthful.

Finally, I ask each and every one of you to ask yourself this question. "If I could live a happy and healthy life without harming others, why wouldn't I?"
