Voted for Nikki Haley today.

The chance that my vote will make a difference is infinitesimally small, and the chance that she can win the GOP nomination is only modestly greater. But, as I have explained in various writings, voting for the lesser evil still makes sense.

On the issues, Haley is vastly preferable to Trump on trade, government spending, foreign policy, and several other issues. On much of this, she's better than Biden, too. She also would not subvert liberal democracy, or try to stay in power by force and fraud if she were to lose an election.

She is pretty bad on some issues, most notably immigration. But Trump is worse. Haley is also something of a weasel. That, however, is true of most high-level politicians.

Even if she doesn't win, a relatively strong showing for Haley could still be useful as a signal there's a constituency among conservatives and center-right moderates who find Trump unacceptable. That group is unlikely to retake the GOP anytime soon. But they could potentially be an influential swing vote in various elections.
