Google is ahead of Amazon with smart speakers
Canalys data for the first quarter of the year
The smart speaker segment is one of the fastest growing consumer electronics solutions, with annual growth of 210 percent in the first quarter of 2018, Canalys research agency reported. During the quarter, 9 million units were delivered, with Google taking the lead for the first time ahead of Amazon. Google's success is due to the emergence of new markets like India.
Google has delivered 3.2 million Home and Home Mini speakers versus 2.5 million Echo devices on Amazon. Markets such as China and South Korea are gaining more weight, 1.8 million are smart speakers in China, and the third largest market in Korea with 730,000 units delivered.
Among the world's third-largest manufacturers is Alibaba, which has supplied 1.1 million Tmall Genie speakers. The company has the most supplies in China, which Canalys attributes to its strong marketing position and the presence of an extensive chain of retail outlets.
You will most likely be surprised, but another speed-increasing company is Xiaomi. In our country, the manufacturer is just coming up with smartphone offerings, but in China in the last quarter has delivered 600,000 Xiao AI speakers.
