Guess I completely missed out on the Stonemans back then! But I do remember the ugly housewife on Hee Haw.
Yes, and they sure made her look ugly too. Those were some of the funnier skits to me.
That and "What's fer Supper Grandpa?" (shouted by unseen people) then grandpa Jones would answer something like:
"well we got turnip greens, corn bread and fatback" (unseen people go )umm UMM, that sounds good [or something like that]
Grandpa Jones and that good ol' mountain dew would be a good followup tune here.
We aim to please
I always got a kick out of it when they would stand up in the cornfield to salute someone's hometown.
We still aim to please
Oh boy!!! Another favorite routine! Thanks for posting all these fun links!
I wasn't CRAZY about Hee Haw, but there WAS a great deal of good, clean humor there.
I really couldn't stand looking at or listening to Buck Owens, both as a musician and character on the show, but Roy Clarke and all the rest of the cast made up for it.
Come to think of it, I shared your opinion of Buck Owens! Ha ha!
