Setting Micro Goals: 21 of 30 Days to a New You

I had a realisation last night in the sauna. I have been working on adding lots of small positive steps to my life recently and whilst that isn't going to make a big change, it is where change starts.

I might have mentioned it before. In fact, I probably do repeat myself a lot. In fact, I probably do repeat myself a lot. But it is worth repeating that it is so easy to look over what you have achieved.

Consider if your goal is to lose x pounds in weight. If you told people your goal was to do that, then most people would be like "yeah, that's great go for it". However, if you told people that your goal was to put your trainers on, they might look at you like you were crazy.

"What, you are only putting your trainers on. So what?"

Of course, it is important to set a large goal. After all if you aim for the stars, you might hit the moon. But comparing your progress with that goal consistently might actually bring you down if you feel you are not getting there fast enough.

By setting smaller, very short term goals all you have to do is get those done and the big goal will be that step closer.

So if you are feeling like you aren't moving forward at all and are stuck, have a look at one of your big goals and break it down to a very small aspect of it.

Then attempt to reach that tiny goal everyday for a week, then reassess and increase the level of that goal the next week.

Have a great day
