The drug scourge

Apart from nuclear proliferation, the other very serious threat of humanity is the drug trade. And the greatest tragedy is that it involves mainly the youths who are being manipulated by a few drug barons.its now an international issues since drug business cut across national boundaries.
The US and Europe are the worst nation-victim since drugs move from poor countries to rich ones,US has over 500,000 reported drug addicts,Germany over 24,000,italy about 55,00 even Poland had about 15,000 victims,while Switzerland,with it's Lebanese drug merchants at the Zurich (needle) spots, had over 150,000 victims....However US had initiated the formation of the United Nations fund for narcotic Drug abuse control(UNFDAC)with US,Germany,Sweden and Norway as its main financiers,the Vienna convention on psychotropic substance was formed to primarily control the use of medical drugs such as amphetamines and hallucinogens.
By all standard, US has contributed more than any other country to the anti -drug crusader.indeed,she has gone into bilateral arrangements with a number of states, including Nigeria,in tackling the drug problems. Her efforts include stationing and properly equipping the US drug-control officers in such countries.
