Sonic Groove Live Contest Week #23 | Mohrheim, Trio 7

in #gl5 years ago (edited)

This is my entry for the Sonic Groove Live Contest, Week 23. After an absence of several weeks (months?) I finally found the time to participate again.

I play one of the Trio's of Friedrich Christian Samuel Mohrheim, the seventh one, based on the choral melody of "Jesu, der du meine Seele". Looking just at the notes this composition is not too difficult, However, it's not just the notes that are important. Articulation and phrasing are equally important, and that is where this piece ís difficult to play. Syncopation in organ music is (for me) a terrible difficult thing to play. And then there is the fact that this piece is a bit long. In slow tempo it is a bit of a problem for me to keep my concentration and maintain focus on the notes and articulation. Somewhere in bar 7 my minds starts to wander around, thinking things like "It's a bit cold here" of "what shall I cook for dinner tonight" and things like that. Not the best mindset for a great performance.... :-)

The score looks scary, especially with the alto clef. I'm in awe that you can read it with ease. What sample set is this? BTW, nice jacket! @alliedforces curate 2

Reading the alto clef needs just a little bit of training. Should be easy for you too, after all, you can already read two clefs which is more than most people!
To make it easy: the score is also available on my site in a non-alto-clef version...

The sample set was the demo of the Schnittger organ in Groningen (again... )
