The outcome of the SEC vs. Ripple case could affect whether the CFTC or the SEC will play a larger role in regulating the XRP token as a commodity or security.

Caroline Pham, one of the five commissioners of the United States Commodity Futures Trading Commission, or CFTC, met with Ripple CEO Brad Girlinghouse ahead of a court decision that could affect how regulators handle XRP tokens.
