Litecoin Hits New Milestone, Surpasses 175 Million Transactions

Litecoin pioneer Charlie Lee has reached another milestone in the history of digital currencies.

Litecoin hits another milestone with 175 million total transactions. It is the second most popular cryptocurrency after Bitcoin and its market capitalization currently exceeds $12 billion.

Lee announced the milestone for the first time on Twitter yesterday, stating, “Litecoin surpassed 175 million transactions in history this week!” I am truly honored to be a part of this wonderful journey.

This number is important because it means that there are more than 3 litecoins traded for every bitcoin every day. In fact, there are more than 20 times more Litecoins in circulation than Bitcoin.

Lee added, “I would like to thank everyone who has supported Litecoin on this journey, especially those who use Litecoin on a daily basis.”
