A Camera Giveaway! Canon EOS 500d
Hello everyone!
I've bought a new (used) camera, the new camera is a Canon EOS 6d. Now I have an extra Canon EOS 500d and it's equipment which are not suiting for the new, full frame camera.
The camera is still in good condition. You can get great photos if you can, you can practice using a DSLR and get a greater flexibility in photography than with only the kit lens.
What would be included?
Canon EOS 500d and the standard Canon lens which came with it, Canon ef-s 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS. The IS stands for image stabilizer, which can help to get clearer photos.
The camera itself has a 15,1 MP APS-C CMOS -sensor, a built in flash and the camera has the ability to shoot Full HD videos.
The only issue with the camera is that the ISO button is a bit stiff and requires some force to react.
In addition to the lens and the camera body, the battery, battery charger and the neck strap for the camera would be sent to the new, proud owner.

What do I need to get the camera?
As long as this post get's a high enough payout, I will pay the shipping costs to the new owner.
The most important thing to do is to write: why do you need the camera? What does photography mean to you? What would you do with the camera?
If you do not want the camera for yourself, why do you want it to a friend or a family member?
No need to fancy explanations and stories filled with tears, I only hope to give it away to someone who truly deserves it but doesn't have an easy option to get a camera themselves.
- I'm sorry to say this, but I'm an asshole and the camera is dear to me. If all I get is dumbass entries, then I will not give the camera to anyone. Once more, the camera I'm giving away is dear to me, so I will not give it away unless I'm sure it'll be in respecting hands.
However when if and when I find the ideal candidate, I'll send the camera. If the post payout will be high, I'll get some necessary extra equipment too.
I'll check through the comments after the post has been paid out.
To enter, write the requested information on the comment field below!
If for any reason I am unable to deliver the camera to the person I've chosen, I'll send all SBD and SP from this post to the person chosen to get the camera.
This promise does not apply if none of the applicants are found worthy of being chosen. Then I'll just donate the money to the local animal shelter.
Contest winner chosen
There were many extremely good entrances, but Bisodun the fashion designer who needs the camera for the business.
I wish I could send at least 4 cameras based on the stories you wrote, but I had to make the decision. Thank you for entering the giveaway.
Wow! I feel so honored to be chosen. Thank you soooo much @apsu. I bless you from my heart for this gift. Your kind deed is giving me a plus in my business. Thank you again!
Super Happy for the winner! I hope this boosts their endeavors!
Great philanthropic Experience!
Keep On Steemin On My Friends!
Yes, thank you! It's going to be a real boost!
Yes! Let's SteemOn!!!
Congrats @bisodun! I know Apsu made a good choice! I hope your boost gets you on your feet and gives you the freedom to run with success! Just don't drop the camera while you run your race! God Bless! =)
Thank you for your kind words. I really appropriate. No dropping the camera!!
You are very welcome!
I would sell the camera if I would get it because I needed money for my medical needs. That is what I will do to it. @apsu
Tears - Hu hu hu.
I'm not sure if I meet the requirements of "doesn't have an easy option to get a camera themselves", but that's a matter of the definition of easy.
I've killed myself for years working online because I live in a place where there are no jobs for someone in my field. Despite people saying steemit isn't something good to rely on for income, it's actually the most promising thing I've had for a while to actually get me out of the place I'm living. I've been trying to save up for years to leave, and every time I'm close, something happens that fucks me over and I'm back to square one.
I live in the middle of nowhere, in shitty suburbs, most of my money going to survive in a country where inflation is absolutely insane, and it costs as much to barely squeak by as it does to live a very comfortable existence in many other countries. Income for the majority of jobs isn't proportionally high, however. People in other countries don't seem to understand how you can sit in front of a TV in a nice house, and yet barely have enough for food sometimes.
I'm not destitute. I'm still living, one day at a time. But I don't make enough I can comfortably afford healthcare. I haven't been to a doctor in over 10 years, and honestly, I need to. I don't want to go into why though.
So, here I am, on steemit, putting everything I have into writing, without really wanting to put a bunch of info about myself on the blockchain. Then I take that money, and I put it into my bittrex, and I trade it back and forth, making more and more, and trying to make enough that I can leave.
Before I leave, I feel like I need a camera. I want to document my journey...both for myself and for steemit. Maybe posts with nice photos aren't any more likely to earn than anything else, but it will provide me more content to produce crypto to trade with.
I've always liked taking photos, and I always take extreme effort to frame the shot perfectly. I've been told I take good photos, but honestly, I don't really know. Getting a real camera is a chance to learn just how good I am though, and share my view of the different places I go to with steemit and the world.
I will then use the money I get from those posts to trade cryptocurrencies, as I have been doing, and make enough to live on, and find a place I can be happy. Maybe I'll even eventually make enough that I can start a business or two, and eventually make enough to make my dream of truly changing the world come true. Such a dream will cost more than any Lambo.
So, I can get a camera, and I'm raising the money to do so, but it's not easy. I trade all day, every day, post when I can, and take jobs on the side, all in an effort to get enough to get what I need to get out of this hellhole. If you choose me for the winner of your contest, it will mean that I can leave sooner, and that I can put whatever money I would have spent on a camera body into lenses, and my plane ticket. When I eventually want to upgrade, I'll pay it forward, and find someone else deserving of the camera body next.
I've put more out there about myself in this comment than I am truly comfortable with, so I do hope you pick me, but if you don't, I understand, and I will still get a camera, and still put my everything every day into steemit and trading, so I can pursue my dreams.
So what does photography mean to me? It means not just framing the world and expressing myself through the photos I take, but the possibility for a leg up in my fight to get to a place where I don't feel like I'm living one day at a time.
Oh your comment was so high up because of the upvotes I kind of missed it.
Your comment is top, and I wish I could give a camera to you too, but well. I can see you will reach the stars in the end and there are so much more than to reach than a camera, while luckily the camera is not the thing standing between you and your success.
Whoa...I didn't know that many voted on it...
Yeah, a camera is just a small tool in my toolbox...
Hi apsu,
I'm Lauren :) I'm 22 years old and I'm a university student studying Information Science. I'm an aspiring freelance photographer and I've been taking photos and videos with my point-and-shoot camera for long as I can remember. I finally got my first DSLR when I was 16. I got a Canon t3i with the factory default lens, and I've been using it ever since. Over the years I've invested in two lenses and out of the two, I generally stick with my Canon 50mm f2.8 lens. Because of your generosity, I would like to pay it forward and give away my precious Canon t3i here on steemit as well if I am chosen.
I personally feel like I'm at a time in my life where I should upgrade not only a better camera but a higher quality of photographs as well. Being a student though, I'm not able to have the luxury of buying a new camera. I am humbled to be apart of such a wonderful community here on Steemit where I'm even able to consider the possibility of upgrading my DSLR.
If by any chance I am under consideration, I suggest checking out these steemit posts: post 1, post 2, post 3, and post 4 and the video I took in this post as well.
Thank you for your generosity. I hope you're able to find someone who is worthy of your precious Canon, I know personally I would have a difficult time choosing.
Thanks for the comment, I'm glad you have been enjoying the photography :)
I'm now hoping I wasn't unclear which camera I'm giving out, but it might be because US and EU names for cameras are very different. It seems that the Canon t3i is better than the 500D, as in Europe it's 600D.
They are both still good cameras for their age and I checked out your posts which look really good :)
Hopefully you'll finally manage to do the same as I did and get a big upgrade in the cameras.
Oh, my misunderstanding... I looked up the Canon 500D and realized I know it by "Canon EOS Rebel T1i". I hope you pick a worthy candidate for your camera, I understand how special they can be to a person. This post has still inspired me to one day give away my camera on steemit and "pay it forward" if I ever do end up upgrading. Thank you for your honesty and consideration apsu <3
I am very dedicated to the Steem blockchain and it's community and am 100% focused on this.
My Steem Ambassador Application! [ #promo-steem ]
I would use the camera to promote the Steem blockchain and are gonna host regular meet-ups here in Gothenburg, Sweden as well as some really creative promos as street art and collborations with local artists and musicians...
As I decided to minimize my dependancy on the old economical system it's a tad harder for me to get certain things, for example a good camera... the one I use now is 9 years old and has seen it's better days! :)

I would be greatly appreciated and an honour to be gifted your camera and will of course make sure you are properly credited for your generosity! You know what they say, a picture is worth a thousand words! ;)
Hey Bread @Apsu :) I'd narrate a whole sad story of how i am looking forward to share more #africanstories about people in prisons, slums and such but I will also capture precious moments wherever I go with that camera. I am falling in love with photography and as a story teller I know the volumes captured moments tell!
All the best to the most deserving 💚
Wonderful thought and give-away Apsu. I'm not participating, just wanted to give you a little bit of extra exposure.
Thank you for the exposure ruben :)
Every tiny bits help. And the 6D upgrade is massive if the 500D was the camera you had before. I remember my first upgrade, started with the 350D and upgraded to a 5D Mark II.
this is great giving back to the community :)
Thanks :) But out of curiosity, why is it "giving back"? Do you know if I have got anything from the community? ;D
...dont need the camera but giving this post a few cents if it will help out with the shipping :)
We all need cameras <3
But thanks for the few cents :) As a man I know, even few cents can make someone happy.
Very generous of you to do so and indeed it is hard to give it to someone who you don't know.
It is! Especially when I don't know if the person actually only wants to sell the camera or do stupid shit like that :(
