Wanderer Girl!

kehte hain kisi mulk mein ladkiyo ko padhne nahi bhejte.
kisi desh mein beinteha zulm kiye jaate hain
jamhooriyat mein bhi sukoon kaha milta hai
ghar ke aks bhi nafrat ke bol sunate hain
meri aankho ne anginat khwabo khwahishat ko marte dekha hai
dum ghutne par saans lena seekha hai
meri muskurahat ek naqab ban jaati hai
kabhi kabhi masoomiyat nirash ho jaati hai

roshni baaki hai lekin, hosla khair toota nahi
jannato ki duhai na de ae zaheen bande
naseeb mera buland hai aur
Allah mera jhoota nahi

TRANSLATION: They say that in some countries they don't send girls to school. In others still, they are treated with extreme depravity and tortured. In a free country like mine, I am restless still. My house speaks of hatred and reeks of violence. These eyes have seen innumerable dreams and desires die. But I have learnt to breathe even while I suffocate.

My smile turns into a mask as my naivety is crushed and disappointed. The light still remains, hope springs eternal. Do not tell me of heavens, I have faith in my Lord.
