Ikan's Pivot handheld gimbal has heaviest payload in the industry

NoFilmSchool interviewed me at NAB 2018 last week. I talked about some of the features of the highly anticipated gimbal, like advanced image stabilization, analog joystick, and an angled arm designed specifically to not obstruct your view of the camera's screen, but perhaps the most exciting feature is its max payload. The Pivot can handle up to 8 lbs., which means that you can not only use it with your DSLRs and smaller mirrorless cameras but it can handle cinema cameras, like a Canon C200, EVA1, FS5 and Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera.

We even managed to mount a RED WEAPON to the Pivot (see video below)

We also mounted the Pivot Gimbal Stabilizer to the Easy Rig. I managed to get a video of the creator of the Easy Rig, Johan Hellsten, using the Pivot with his Easy Rig.

General Tech Specs:
• Max payload of 8 pounds (3.6kg)
• Angled arm for unobstructed view of the camera's screen
• Advanced image stabilization
• iOS and Android app
• Carbon fiber handle
• Full 360-degree movements on all three axis
• Compatible with Manfrotto 501PL series mounting plates
• Battery holder is compatible with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0
• OLED display screen

Here are a few features I forgot to mention during the interview:

Regarding the Ikan Gimbal app:
• Has the option of lengthening the timelapse function for up to an hour.
• You can also recalibrate your gimbal PID settings through the app with an intuitive interface.
• You can pan and tilt the gimbal head through the app.
• You can change the payload range from small, medium, and large.

Regarding the Follow Focus:
• Will use Bluetooth as a wireless interface.
• Will be compatible with all upcoming PD Movie wireless motors.
• Will be called the PD Movie “Live Air” (SKU: PDL-AF).
• Will be available in late-June for $499 USD.
• Kit with the Ikan Pivot gimbal will be $999
• The motor will use an interchangeable internal battery (Canon E12 800mAh 7.2V) and will last for 4 hours.
• Maximum torque: 0.4Nm
