Cold Compresses
Allergies or allergic conjuctivitis in one of the most common cases or conditions you would find in African eye care facilities, this is probably due to the prominence of dusty particles or pollen however this condition is almost a canker which brings people to the clinic every day and sometimes it can be so disturbing that when their medication gets finished it becomes hell for them at home.
And so today we would want to give you another trick that works very well, that can help alleviate those extreme situations where you may be far from your Optometrist or immediate healthcare is not available to you. Kindly note that this is not a replacement for comprehensive care or medications that may be prescribed by your Optometrist or Ophthalmologist.
So in the situation where you are experiencing severe itching on and around the eyes and your medication as prescribed by your Optometrist may have depleted, kindly get come cold water, put them in a basin or a small bowl, get a face towel then dip the towel in the water and put it on your eyes. Keep it on the eye for about a minute and dip it back in the water. Repeat this step for some few more minutes and the severe itching you are experiencing should start to subside or become more bearable for you.
In the absence of a bowl or basin to hold the water or face towel, you can wash you face under running water for some minutes, this also tend to help however the cold water works better. You may also buy some cold water from your nearby supermarket or water vendor for this purpose and it should work just as well. This trick has done a whole lot for a whole lot of patients and we do hope that you also get to benefit from this too.
