Hash House Harriers Week 10
I have been a part of this group for a long time (is 10 weeks a long time?) and I will yet again encourage you to be with them also. It isn't an exclusive group, it is just a bunch of fun-loving drinkers with a running problem and you could be with them right away if you wanted to.
This particular week was incredible. It started out bad because the trail was tough to fine but man did it get better later.
There is nothing special about that picture and I realize that, but we were a small group tonight and it was actually very difficult for us to determine where the path was meant to be, even from the start. We ended up figuring it out though and we ran our way into the wood which at many points was amazing to me that no one got angry at us because there were times that we were definitely trespassing.
walk around a giant gate, that is not trespassing right?
This trail was particularly awesome because it had a fair share of running to show everyone your cardio capabilities and then just incredible parts that involved some wow views.
there are dozens of these out there... they are simply mining operations that struck an underwater spring and after a while didn't want to pay the cost of the pumps removing the water(the pumps are still there)
It was an incredible 2.5 hour run / trek and to date it was my favorite that I have been on. At the end we sat around and drank beer and ate snacks as we always do (and subsequently this is why you need to join a Hash if you can.) It was an amazing day even though i was subjected to sitting on the ice on multiple occasions (no, that is not me)
I strongly (yet again) encourage anyone out there to look up the Hash House Harriers and see if they have an operation near where you live. They are an incredible group of people that operate on an international scale. You will not regret meeting them... i am certain of that.
Ok, I had a look if one is close by and there are only 3 cities in South Africa who have the hash Harriers. Durban, Cape Town and Kimberley. Nothing close by ,Johannesburg and Pretoria had them a few years ago, but nothing currently.
Ok. I will have a look if there is one close y to me. I like the fact you have to find your way and you do it as a group. Looks like good fun.
Of course the tiring journey that you spent with friends for 2.5 hours paid off after reaching your destination, especially when in front of your eyes lay a beautiful view of a lake that has very green water ... a fantastic adventure ...
Gorgeous spring. That's pretty brave going around those gates. Where I live the odds are decent someone that definitely is not a jogger would cruise up on a golfcart and instruct us to exit by way of gesturing with his shotgun. Maybe the golfcart guy could be swayed with some beer though...anyway, you are brave.
The ice sitting thing looks like it might not be too bad for some overworked butt muscles :)
