What's up people? Today we decided to make one short article about Plitvice lakes which are situated in Croatia.

Plitvicka jezera (eng. Plitvice lakes) is the oldest and most visited national park in Croatia. This amazing landscape consists of 16 lakes that are connected with number of crystal clear waterfalls and forest streams. All lakes are separated completely naturally by travertine dams that are a product of algae and bacteria. It's estimated that this barriers have been constantly growing for about 10.000 years.

The area of National Park covers 296 km2 and it's situated in mountain part of Croatia with the highest point at 1279 m.

The water exiting from the lowest lake is forming the Korana River. This is also a lowest point of National Park with altitude of 367 m.

Plitvice Lakes National Park was added to the UNESCO World Heritage register back in 1979. Over 1 million people visit this natural wonder in a year.
