Genocide Testimonies: Rape of Women, Beatings, Murders…
There are very specific cases of crimes and murders, which were committed against the Greeks, sometimes individually and sometimes in groups. To these must be added the beatings, the numerous imprisonments of Greeks and the daily humiliations of women and young girls.
According to A.I. Gavriilidi:
"[…] About 600 women and children are taken captive to the Turkish village of Çashur, about an hour away, where the elderly and unarmed men are brutally shot in the village square, and the virgin girls and women are dishonored. From there they are led to Inozou, along the banks of the Alyos, and below Kapou-Kaya and enclosed in the inn of Kioleoglou Lefter where the famous Soupe Reizi of Pafra Memet Ali arrives, to whom some women dared to say dishonors suffered by the gendarmes and the army .
Next was to cast them out in the dark, so that the rapists of those unfortunate women and children, encouraged more, considered it permissible for them to use all violence and all orgies, unabashedly and in public.
The mass deportations and mass deportations were the pre-eminent extermination measure of the Turkish authorities against the Greeks.
The martyrdom of the mass displaced populations is depicted in official consular reports of 1916-1917. The implementation of this measure was decided in June 1915 and started from the peninsula of Gallipoli and the coasts of the Hellespont, to extend to the islands of the Propontis, throughout Asia Minor and Pontus ".
