Hi Wonderful Chefs!

It's a pleasure to join this week's course, I couldn't resist because rice is a beloved staple food in my culture. I eat rice almost every day, and we love it because of its versatility; we have countless ways of preparing rice, be it fried rice, jellof, rice & stew, pepper soup rice, or rice with sauce, etc. Rice is an essential source of energy because it is rich in carbohydrates, thus making it a vital part of countless diets. Rice can be paired harmoniously with a variety of ingredients, such as vegetables (carrots, peas, green beans, bell pepper, cabbage, tomatoes, etc), meats (chicken, beef, pork, etc), and spices (cloves, ginger, garlic, turmeric curry, cumin, etc), enhancing its flavor and nutritional value.

party fried rice

Whether it is served as the main dish or a side dish, Rice brings people together at the table; what do I mean? It is the main food we normally serve at any gathering or party, be it weddings, anniversaries, or any other occasion. People will be sitting together around the table and enjoying their rice. Rice is the embodiment of culinary traditions and heritage globally.

In this article, I will write about some of the rice I know, as mentioned in class, and I will also show you how I prepared my delicious 😋 coconut rice! So stay connected.

Did You Know The Types Of Rice We Mentioned in class? tell us.

Yes, I know some of these rice, like the Jasmine rice, are known for their fragrance and aroma. It's a long grain and is popular for its sticky texture. I know Basmati rice too. This one is aromatic and it has fluffy qualities, and we often use it in traditional dishes. Brown rice, I used to see this rice in our local market, but I've not eaten it before; this rice is known for its health benefits and nutty flavor; well, I hope to have a taste of it any of these days. Our local long-grain rice is grown here in Nigeria, and it's my favorite; I love its taste, digestibility, and versatility; you can use it for jellof rice and other stews. We have short grain rice too, and it is called "Abakiliki" or sand rice; you need to select the sand before cooking it.*

We Would Like You To Prepare A Main Dish Based On Rice Or With Rice As A Side Dish (Quantity For 1 Person). It Is Important To Explain The Preparation Process And The Result..

Wash and parboil your rice for at least 15 minutes, Don't allow the rice to be soft because you'll cook it again.

How Has Your Experience Been Learning About Pasta And Rice? Tell Us.

I must say last week's class about Pasta was great because students were taught how to make pasta themselves, though I couldn't join, I read the topic and have a clue about how to make pasta, and I also read other students' work, but I feel that we lost something here, I mean what I saw was nothing close to the usual Pasta, I know there are certain ingredients that we might have missed, coupled with certain machines 😂 sincerely, I believe that most students here couldn't eat what they made.

As for this week's course, I really enjoyed it, it's been fascinating to learn about rice and its versatility. I've learned about many other types of rice and their uses, nutritional benefits, textures, and pairing possibilities thus expanding my culinary knowledge. I've come to know the origin of rice, which shows its importance in global food traditions; I'll try to read as many entries as I can to gain a deeper appreciation for rice's diversity and simplicity!

I love rice as much as you do. In my country, Venezuela, we also cook rice with coconut for some dishes. Most known is a sweet rice, but at the east side cook white salty rice with coconut to eat for lunch along with some proteins, plantain and beans.

The rice you cooked looks very tasty, I agree with you rice is a very versatile cereal.

Fresh homemade pasta surely doesn't look exactly like factory pasta but I assure you it's very good to eat.

Best wishes in the challenge

Hi friend! I'm glad you visited Me today, and I appreciate your compliment and contribution. I agree with you that homemade pasta is better than the one with preservative, I guess I'm just scared of change, haha 😂 I appreciate you💕

First of all, permit me to resteem this coconut rice because I might be coming to cook it someday to impress someone….

I’ve always love coconut rice but I mostly eat it in restaurants because I don’t know how to cook it. When you go to fast food, the kind of plenty ingredients and other stuffs you see in the food, you will think is very complicated…

I never thought it would be this easy to prepare.. your kids are really enjoying all the varieties of dishes from you!!

Thank you so much for the compliment, hey don't fail to share with us when you prepare your delicious 😋 coconut rice

Sister, I like your post very much, the main reason is that your post is factually made. Today we will also try but we cannot make it like us but we will try. All prayers for your success. Thank you.

Hi Ela I was just telling you my opinion, I mean what I think, and I didn't say any of the students fake their photos, no now, neither do they fake their experiences of learning something new right from the comfort of their home. But I was saying maybe they couldn't eat because of the taste.

Your indeed a good cook, the rice is looking yummy and I have learnt a lot from your writeup, I will try this method of cooking . Thank you for taking time and explain in details.

Aww 🥰 it's good to know that you have learned from my article. Thanks for the compliment, I appreciate 💕

Gosh.. The coconut rice looks very delicious. It seems like we have the same taste, I have also prepared a recipe for rice cooked with coconut milk. Haha

Seriously! Wow, it's good to know that we prepare the same recipe for rice; I can't just go a day not to talk of two without rice. We have numerous ways of preparing it. Hey thanks for the compliment, I'm encouraged!

I am salivating upon viewing the pictures of your rice. The coconut rice looks very delicious, and I know it's delicious because I know you as a fabulous cook. You forgot to include MTN rice with vegetables 😋. I wish you all the best in the contest.
