SEC-S20W4 | 2nd Time: Rice.
Hello #gastronomy-s20w4 Team |
---|
Hello My Steemain Friends ,
How are you. I hope you people of steemian are good and enjoy your life . Well I am well. May God bless you all. Today I am writing about an interesting Steemit Engagement Challenge S20 - W4: which is all time my favourite topic “2nd Half: Rice" this amazing challenge organised by @nahela . So, in this post I am going to share my point of view about this topic.
Did you know the types of rice we mentioned in class? Tell us |
---|
Yes, I know the rice mentioned in this course. Basmati rice has many sizes, like whole basmati rice, pauna basmati rice, broken basmati rice. Basmati rice comes in our country in numbers. Like pauna basmati rice is number 4, whole basmati rice is number 1, it is expensive, it is used in making biryani and in parties. Its size also becomes longer after cooking.
I make pauna of basmati in my house, with dal rice or with vegetables. Because when it is cooked, it becomes very fluffy and its size also increases a little after cooking. This rice is not very expensive and is also very tasty to eat and looks beautiful too.
For khichdi and kheer, we use small rice, so that it can be easily pounded. There are many types of rice available in the market, like Dehradun rice, Mussoorie rice, Rajrani rice etc.
Some rice are sticky and become pulpy. I don't like their taste that much.
I have also seen brown rice, which is used in puja and people also eat it, but I have never made it.
We will like you to prepare a main dish base on rice or or with rice as a side dish .It’s important to explain the preparation process and the result. |

Today, on rice based dishes, I would like to make Tehari. It is very quick to make and is also healthy. It does not require much time and ingredients to make it. We also call it salty rice. Let us know what ingredients are required for this
Ingredients
One glass of rice
Two medium sized potatoes
One small onion
Oil
Spices
Salt
Turmeric
Ground chilli
Cumin
Asafoetida
For garnishing
Tomato
Onion
Green chilli
First of all we cleaned one glass of rice and washed it with two waters and kept it in a vessel. Then cut small pieces of potato in square shape and we also cut onion.
Then we put oil in a cooker, when it got hot, then we tempered cumin and asafoetida in it. Then we added onion in it and fried it till it became golden in colour.
After the onion became golden in colour, we added potato in it and stirred it for 2 minutes. Then add spices in it, turmeric, chilli, salt and then drain the water from the soaked rice and added rice and stirred it well for 2 minutes on medium.
Then there was a glass of rice in it, so we added 1,1/4 glass of water. So that our Tehari would be cooked well and then closed the cooker.
When it whistled three times, we turned off the gas and after 10 minutes when the whistle came, then I opened the cooker and saw that the rice was cooked perfectly. Not even a single grain was stuck to each other. Then I served breakfast to the children and my husband. It is cooked very quickly, very few ingredients are needed.
Then I garnished it with tomatoes, onions and green chillies. Because any food is incomplete without salad.
A delicious Tehri is ready for us.
Imagine a 3-course menu that goes with your main dish |

With this Tehari, I would like tomato chutney, which we make sweet and sour. For taste, we also add cumin and hing tadka to it and along with this, I would also like coriander mint chutney, which has tamarind in it, sour chutney. This will make my dish more perfect. The combination of these three will bring a wonderful taste. This chutney is also made very quickly. The sweet and sour taste of both these chutneys gives a perfect taste.
My experience of learning about pasta and rice |
---|
I do not know how to make pasta that perfect, but yes, I sometimes make pasta at home for children. In which I make some vegetables with lentils. So that it becomes healthy for children, refined flour does not harm them. Both rice and pasta have their own methods of preparation and their own taste. Rice is used in very large quantities and it is the most widely consumed food in the country and the biggest thing is that it is light to eat and is also easy to digest.
I want to invite my friends to take part in this contest: , @sduttaskitchen , @chant , @eliany , @max-pro"
Thankyou 🙏
Tehari looks like an easy to make recipe, but it's secret must be in the spices you add when cooking the rice, and of course the way you cooked it to obtain the desire texture.
We as mothers choose the healthier food we can to feed our kids, rice or pasta with vegetables is great food for the whole family.
Best wishes for you
