Grow more food in a small garden
Are you looking for a way to grow more food in a small garden? With the current pandemic, more and more people are looking for ways that they can produce more food in their gardens. Regardless of whether you have limited time and want to produce more food with your current garden, or if you only have enough room for a small garden where you live, there is a simple way that you can produce more food with your current garden setup. Grow and eat plants that have secondary edibles.
Secondary edibles, are parts of a plant, the leaves, that are discarded after the main crop is harvested. These leaves can be eaten each week as the main crop grows, and even after it has been harvested. Examples of crops with secondary edibles include cabbage, beets, carrots, Brussel sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, sweet potatoes, and turnips. There are far more, what I’ve listed are what we currently have in our garden.
A leaf or two harvested off of each plant, each week, can provide you with a LOT of food for your family. It promotes more growth on the plant as well as controls it’s size to make it easier to inspect, add supplemental nutrients and water.
